**** Algoma Paddlers Open House April 26 ****

We're gearing up for paddling season! Come enjoy an evening of pizza with the Paddlers! We will be having a club Open House on  April 26 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm  in the W.C. Eaket library in Blind River. The evening will feature a talk from guest speaker Chuck Miller (info below), an opportunity to learn about club activities, trips, and membership benefits, and the chance to meet and chat with fellow paddling/outdoor enthusiasts. We will be having a free draw for a club membership and, new this year, we will have a free draw for KICK (Kids Into Canoeing and Kayaking) camp registration. That’s worth $175.00!   If you’ve already paid for membership or KICK and win the draw, we will issue a refund cheque. **** Registration for K.I.C.K. Camp 2018 is now open ! ****

K.I.C.K. (Kids Into Canoeing and Kayaking) Camp is a summer day camp for local youth ages 8 - 16.  Receive paddling certifications! Experienced paddlers and beginners are welcome.  2018 Camp Sessions Week 1 - July 3 - 6: Whitefish River First Nation Week 2 - July 9 - 13: Blind River Area, Lake Lauzon Week 3 - July 16 - 20: Blind River Area, Lake Lauzon Week 4 - July 23 - 27: Elliot Lake Area, Camp Thompson Week 5 - July 30 - August 3: Thessalon Area Week 6 - August 7 - 10: Mississauga First Nation, Chiblow Lake Week 7 - August 13 - 17: Sagamok First Nation Week 8 - August 20 - 24: Serpent River First Nation Cost: Register before May 31 - $175/week for Blind River, Elliot Lake and Thessalon Camps. $200/week if registering after May 31.  Cost For First Nation Camps - check with Your Community Youth Worker.  Registration forms available at algomapaddlers.blogspot.ca under "Our Club" tab.   Hard copy forms are available at Barrel of G

*** Pool Sessions April 21 & 22 ***

Warmer weather and paddling season are just around the corner! We're holding pool sessions on April 21 and 22 from 2 - 4 pm at the Elliot Lake Municipal Pool. These sessions are meant for paddlers of all skill levels, those new to kayaking and those paddling for years. Whether you'd like to just learn to feel comfortable in a kayak, learn awesome bracing techniques, learn to roll, or practice rescue skills, you'll find these pool sessions great for getting you into paddling mode just in time for the season. Don't be shy - get out there and improve your skills! Our qualified instructors can help you get there. Register by April 7th to reserve your spot by emailing paddlers10@gmail.com . Please let us know if you would like to use one of the club's kayaks, and be ready to help load and/or unload the boats as needed. This is also a great time to sign up for your membership as you will get a discount on pool session pricing! Adult members - $30 for one sess
